Share your CIPT1 Experience

August 9th, 2010 in CIPT1 642-446 Go to comments

As you know, the CCVP certification requires you to pass 5 exams: CVoice, QoS, CIPT1, CIPT 2 & TUC but currently this site has only materials for CCNA Voice IIUC 640-460 and CVoice 642-436. Many candidates have requested us to put up materials for other exams but it is a time-consuming work. In the mean time, we created the “Share your experience” for the CIPT1 exam. We really hope anyone who read 9tut, digitaltut, certprepare, networktut and voicetut contribute to these sections as your experience is invaluable for CCVP learners to complete their goals.

Please share with us your experience after taking the CIPT1 exam, your materials, the way you learned, your recommendations…

    Hi

I found two different answers on one question :

Which three steps need to be performed on a third party SIP phone device when adding it to Cisco Unified Callmanager 5.0 (!). Choose three

    Answer :
    - Set the directory numbers to match the directory numbers configured in cisci CUCM
    - Set the proxy address in the SIP phone to match the IP address of Fully Qualified Domain name of CUCM
    - Set the digest user ID in the SIP device to match the digest user ID in CUCM

    however ….

almost the same queston, but now the question is :
Which three steps need to be performed on a third party SIP phone device when adding it to Cisco Unified Callmanager 6.0(!!!!). Choose three-

Here is the digest User ID answer wrong, and should the answer be … Set the TLS user ID and password in the SIP phone to match the TLS user ID and password in Cisco Unified Callmanager

Is one of them wrong, or should call manager 5.0 be digest and 6.0 TLS ??

    Help !

  16. Metalenhoofd
    February 13th, 2011

    And this one …
OMI writes in his mail from jan 23d 2011 …

HW_CFB_1: For the example we assume that is has capacity for 2 conferences.

why 2 conferences, why not one, how do you know.
I cannot find any info on this, can someone clarify ?

  17. sanpan
    February 15th, 2011

    Just cleared CIPT1 988/1000….. Elnus 169 + Ali 14 valid. Thanks Guys.
To answer Metalenhoofd’s question, just remember for CM5.0, its digest ID and for CM6.0, its TLS ID.
answer to 2nd question: The diagram in the dumps is wrong. The hardware conference bridge resources in some questions are more than 1 but in the dumps, it is always shown as 1.
    All the best.

  18. Metalenhoofd
    February 15th, 2011

thanks sanpan… i agree on the hardware conference. The diagrams must be wrong.

I studied the pass4sure dump on examcollection from feb 14th … and in Q46 they say both CM5.0 and 6.0 must be digest ID ..

    On this website :
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/admin/6_0_1/ccmcfg/b09sip3p.html

    You find this text …
Cisco Unified Communications Manager does not support Transport Layer Security (TLS) from third-party SIP phones.

So I think both 5.0 as 6.0 must be digest ID. Maybe this is why you scored not 1000/1000 ?

    Thanks for advice

I’ve took the exam twice, both fails. :-(
    1st: 662/1000
    2nd: 694/1000

I learnd with pass4shure, tesking, passguide and FreeExamKing.
    The 642-447 is ca 70% from 642-446 (v6.0).
I think we must wait at least 2-3 weeks for good dumps.

If anybody needs the Passguide or FreeExamKing Dumps: –> piranhabox@gmail.com

But they are all only ca. 60-70% valid. There where 10 Questions which are totaly new (not in any dumps).
And ca 10 Questions from the dumps are not exactly like the original Exam questions.

If anybody took passed the exam please comment.

I have it, but some questions are so ambiguous, there could be multiple answers that are correct. Example:

“When a new subscriber is added to a Cisco Unified Communications Manager Cluster, how must the subscriber be configured so that it can receive database updates?

    A. The subscriber uses the security password configured when the subscriber was configured. This is also configured in the Publisher and validated on the initial replication of the Database.

    B. The subscriber uses the subscriber security password configured in the publisher.

    C. The subscriber uses the same security password configured on the publisher when it was created.

    D. The subscriber uses the IDS security password.

A, C and D are all correct as far as I can tell, and it’s typical cisco double-speak, and I would like to see if anyone else has the “Answer that they are looking for”, not necessarily the right answer.

Refrence “Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager Part 1 CIPT v.8″ Roughcuts

    Page 9

Device settings are stored in the IBM IDS database. The database is the repository for service parameters, features, device configurations, and dial plan configurations.
The database replicates nearly all configuration information in a hub-and-spoke topology (one publisher, many subscribers). CUCM nodes also use a second communication method to replicate runtime data using a mesh topology. (Every node updates every other node.) A mesh topology of information sharing provides dynamic registration and active call information that changes much more frequently than database changes. Real-time
mesh replication is used to communicate newly registered phones, gateways, and digital signal processor (DSP) resources, guaranteeing optimum call routing.

    Page 10

The IBM IDS is the database for the Cisco UC applications. The IDS database installation and configuration is scripted into the CUCM installation DVDs. No UNIX or IBM IDS database knowledge is required to configure and operate CUCM.

    Page 11

Database access is secured using the embedded Red Hat, iptables dynamic firewall and a database security password.
The procedure to allow new subscribers to access the database on the publisher is as follows:
1 Add the subscriber to the publisher database using CUCM Administration.
2 During installation of the subscriber, enter the same database security password that was entered during installation of the publisher.

Please if someone pass the exam, could give us grade of reliability of dump?

I have the 642-447 exam tomorrow, i’ve watched the CBT nuggets for 642-446 and used CM7 in VMWARE. Then used the “pratice tests” to find my weak area’s. I’ll let everyone know tomorrow afternoon how it went and what it’s like. Looking through the practice test about 10 answers are wrong, but some of the questions are extra sneaky from Cisco in this exam.

Right a review, I failed by 1 question, the pass mark was 790. This may sound crazy but I’m glad I failed as I need to put more work in. I’ve watched the CBT nuggets 2-3 times and used VMware so thought I was well prepared. Anyone just using the “dumps” I would advise not to bother taking the test yet, my test had about 70% from the latest dump and a lot of hard new questions. I use CUCM on a daily bases for customer’s, some of the new questions require a “Sad” knowledge level, for example one of the new questions asked where you could apply BLF speed dial’s with 6 menu streams, if I was in front of the GUI I could do it in 20 seconds, but trying to remember the menu choices is hard. If anyone has any specific questions please let me know. My only wish would be that they make the test’s more real life, I’ve installed 10+ CUCM systems (Versions 6-8) from scratch, but I couldn’t pass the CIPT1 exam. They had 3 new questions on SIP, which is my weak area. Give me a day or so and I’ll try and remember the other new questions and some wording’s.

I think before my re-sit I’m going to spend a day or so just going through all the menu’s and stuff, most of the new questions seemed to be focused on enterprise parameters or menu choices etc etc, which to be honest you don’t use every day

Hey LORD, my email is the.voice@yahoo.co.uk. If you want, I’m happy to have a look at your VM set-up via teamviewer this evening?

Also, would you be able to share your ISO CUCM 8 image, perhaps via ebay? That way you could burn a DVD and charge for the postage. Feature wise there isn’t much/if any difference between 6,7 and 8, but I wouldn’t mind running 8 in my lab.

** To add to my last post, they had a new question about couldn’t you access the Linux OS on an MCS server, I put no, but you can make minor tweaks via the GUI ie time etc etc, perhaps I made a mistake on that one, but you can’t change anything in the OS directly so I may have been right.

@The_Voice… sorry to hear about u failing :( ….. Any help you can provide us would be great in terms of what new questions there were. There are many images of CUCM 8.5 floating on the net … i downloaded one 2 days ago and installed it on vmware and it works

It’s tough to feel motivated, but I guess that’s why the CCNP Voice is a cert worth having. Take the CSSP, its completely worthless now because it’s so easy.

I’m going to put together a full question review later today or tomorrow, but my top tip for anyone would be brush up on SIP, the exam had 4 new SIP questions. As I don’t use SIP day to day currently it was my weakest area.

Wht the basic things needed for building a home lab.. for ccnp-voice??

    i have, CUCM8,vmware workstation 7, CIPC, n VTGO-PC softphone..

  86. The_Voice

It depends on what you want to do. CUCM in VMWare and a soft phone is good and very useful, but only up to a point, as then your back to theory again. Really you need two 2800′s back to back or at-least a 2600 and a 1760, otherwise when you come to do a full install you will get the CM server’s up and running but then may find an error. I’ll give you an example, a few months back I did an install, everything was smooth but incoming call’s didn’t work, I had forget to set the inbound call routing CSS, had I not lab’d it up going back to back and seen the symptoms, that may have taken hour’s instead of minutes to solve. But then you need to be realistic, two 2800’s are say £800 all in which isn’t cheap. It’s a hard one to call. If you don’t have any router based hardware, I would recommend watching the old GWGK CBT nuggets a lot, I watch certain nuggets monthly just to keep the theory up to date and such.

  92. The_Voice
    May 17th, 2011

** Where is toll-fraud prevention configured in CUCM? = route patterns ** The reason being is that you need to classify the patterns as on or off net, this will stop someone calling into your office and then being “transferred” straight back out and getting a free international or local call.

    @ LORD – My email is the.voice@yahoo.co.uk

How far/detailed have people gone in their own labs? I have two separate sites so I can practice real world stuff like WAN and PSTN route’s to a remote site.

  93. The_Voice
    May 17th, 2011

** to add to the above ** it relates indirectly to a setting in enterprise parameters, where you can allow/disallow off-net to off-net calling if you wanted, i cant remember which one is the default.
