Configuring Cisco Unity Connection Servers

Cisco Unity Connection provides Cisco Unified Personal Communicator users with the ability to view, play, sort, and delete voicemail messages from the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator interface.

Before You Begin

Install and configure a supported release of Cisco Unity Connection.
Integrate Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unity Connection. Both servers must be installed and running to configure voicemail ports.

Procedure

1. Set up a new or existing class of service in Cisco Unity Connection Administration to enable Internet Mail Access Protocol (IMAP) client access to voice messages.

a. Expand Class of Service in the left pane.
b. Select Class of Service.
c. Select the display name of the applicable class of service in the Search Results table, in the Search Class of Service window.
d. Check Allow Users to Use Unified Client to Access Voice Mail for port 7993 and TLS, under Features.
e. For all other ports and protocols, perform the following steps:

Check Allow Users to Access VoiceMail Using an IMAP Client under Licensed Features.
Select Allow Users to Access Message Bodies.
Check Allow Users to Use Unified Client to Access Voice Mail under Features.

f. Select Save.

2. Configure the user:

If the users are existing Cisco Unity Connection users, add them to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager database and to Cisco Unified Presence. Proceed to Step 4.
If the user is a new Cisco Unified Personal Communicator user, add the user to Cisco Unified Communications Manager database, Cisco Unity Connection, and to Cisco Unified Presence.

3. Create a Connection user account on the Cisco Unity Connection server with a voice mailbox for each Cisco Unified ersonal Communicator user.

Note: The user ID in Cisco Unity Connection does not need to match the user ID in Cisco Unified Presence or in Cisco Unified Personal Communicator. Cisco Unified Personal Communicator has an independent voicemail ID, which is set in the application Preference window.

4. (Optional) Enable secure messaging as follows:

a. Expand Class of Service in the left pane, and then select Class of Service.
b. Select an option from Require Secure Messaging in the Message Options section to enable secure messages.

5. (Optional) Specify how to handle unidentified caller message security for your users as follows:

a. Expand Users in the left pane.
b. Select Users.
c. Select the alias of a user.
d. Select Edit > Message Settings.
e. Check Mark Secure in Unidentified Callers Message Security.

6. If one does not already exist, specify a web application password in Cisco Unity Connection for the applicable user accounts.

I took a really nasty one earlier today! It was super long and parts were messy (some answers not included). I felt better when it was all over, and I scored over 950. I don’t think I will be taking anymore before the exam but you never know when the mood will strike. One of my friends took 5 dumps in one day and still failed. I guess the dumps really depend on what’s deep down inside of you; if you’re not prepared they probably won’t help.

I heard this was the best dump ever, for this exam but I’m still going to know the material . I don’t think one single dump can guarantee success but it will certainly feel better to take at least one long one prior to the exam. This dump has 186 questions. I would also check the forum for updates posted (new questions that might be introduced).

This dump has been all the rave on this site, and the material seems legit.

Some dumps can be really crappy. You have to make sure you know the material before tackling the dumps. A good dump can either be your best friend or wear out your backside!

I just took the ICOMM V8 640-461 boot camp. I’m studying for the exam. Is the 640-461 questions on Voicetut sufficient to study or does that only cover a portion of the questions? Should I also study the folowing dump and does it cover a lot more questions that may not have been included on Voicetuts site or is the dump just the same questions but in an exam simulation? Do I need to purchase the Virtual Cert-Exam software from Avanset to have access to all of the questions in the dump or is there free software somewhere? Thanks!!

I’d like to first point out that this is a terrible question in that I don’t believe any of the available answers are truly correct. Nevertheless, I believe that “propagation delay” is the best answer.

a. “The de-jitter buffer transforms the variable delay into a fixed delay.”
b. Coder (processing) delay is detailed as a “fixed” delay on the schematic.

c. That leaves us with propagation delay where the article states “In general, the fixed components are from propagation delays…”

So I am willing to read a whole lot into the part that says “IN GENERAL” and hope that it is the best choice amongst the five evil possible answers.

The REAL answer–that should be listed is–“queuing delays.” Queuing delays are defined as variable delays but they are not one of the options in the possible answers on any of the test questions that I’ve seen.

Had both the UPCJOE questions and the No limitations on the name (7.0 vs. 8.0 need to see if the title is Universal Personal Communicator or Universal Service Framework to answer correctly).

Had two D&D. The troubleshooting one and the MGCP/H.323/SIP/SCCP one.
