dont think there is any lab kind of question. only Mutiple Choice
actually, all the way up to CCIE voice, there is no lab question. that’s what i heard from guys got CCIE vioce

There is a lab for CCIE Voice lab exam but no simulations etc for the written exam. And yes no simulations at CCNP level just multiple choice.

Piece of advice to you guys. There is no point just cramming stuff from this site and passing your exams. You have to understand the technology so you can be successful at interviews and be productive on your first day at work doing voice networks. If you just crammed then you will look stupid at interviews and will not know what to do working with live production voice networks. Build yourselves a little lab and experiment with it before plunging into complex but rewarding world of voice networks. Just trying to help you guys.

Just passed the test this morning, scored 976. Exam A is 100% correct, included 2 DnD the one on the Exam A and the H323/SIP one. I actually passed the exam in under 20 minutes. I had to pase myself as not to complete the exam too fast lol. Good luck to all the future test takers!!!!

Taking CCNA voice this coming Saturday.

For those of you who want it, the new Cisco Press books is avialable via E-Book. http://www.ciscopress.com/bookstore/product.asp?isbn=1587204177. Most of the CCNP for Voice track books are at least avialable electronically now. I always recommned getting a hard copy of at least the books you may re-use like Troubleshoooting and How to Set books like the one for CUCM and Cisco Unity Connection.

It amazes me that the Cisco Press books always leave out at least 30% of what is on any give Cisco exam. Without dumps and TUT, I would have missed so much on my CCNA and CCNA voice. Irratating because I really don’t want to use these sites, but if you don’t, you would most certaintly fail.

Thanks for the practice tests. Been taking practice test A and passing exam A 100% . Want to knock this out and pass my other CCNP for voice exams.

Has anyone used the CCNA Voice 640-461 guide? There are questions in it and I think a couple of them have the wrong answers.:

Which T1/E1 varients “steal” a bit for call setup and teardown messages between devices?
Their answer is T1 CAS and E1 CAS. Its my understanding that E1 CAS uses channel 17 and not robbed bit, only T1 CAS “steal” bits.

How does a device attached to a Cisco IP phone send data to the switch?
They say, As tagged (using the voice VLAN). I think its untagged, which is a choice but they say its wrong.

I havn’t finished the whole book just yet. Can anyone clarify wht the book may be right and I’m wrong, (because usuaally I am).

CAS is the correct answer. Channel Associated Signaling uses in-band signaling, and to achieve this, it ‘robs’ bits from every sixth frame. This is completely different to CSS, which is what you’re referring to with “channel 17”. CSS uses a dedicated channel for signaling, and is referred to as ‘out-of-band’ signaling, which is inherently more secure, and the most widely deployed these days.

There were a few new questions:

1. one item lets you choose (two) the difference between Intserv and Diffserv. Be sure to review this as I am not sure of my answer also.

2. Troubleshooting part, wherein Phone A can not contact Phone B. From which part will you start troubleshooting, diagram shows, a ccm, switch, phone and wan connection.

I chose start troubleshooting phone A using ccm. (not sure if its correct)

3. Integration between CUPS and LDAP
A. CUPS must be integrated with LDAP
B. LDAP is mandatory if CUPC is used
C. LDAP is optional, but user search will not be available
D. LDAP is optional, but instant messaging will not be available

I was planning to take the exam this friday, but after registering i got an email from Pearson Vue saying that i registered for :

640-461 Administering Cisco Voice and Unified Communications English

On cisco web site the name for this exam …is ..as you all probably know :

640-461 ICOMM v8.0 Introducing Cisco Voice and Unified Communications Administration

Can you tell me if you still have the confirmation letter from Pearson Vue if it’s the same case ?

Is the exam the same ? and it’s diferent just the naming ?

I’ve scheduled mine in 2 weeks time because we’re only getting the training nxt week ( BOOTCAMP CCNA VOICE ) so as it will be fresh in my head I’m doing the exam exactly week after :)..then I’m taking a break after completing CCNP and CCIP track…I’ve booked my CCIE Written exam in Jan 2012 ..I know it’s going to be a lot of work and stress but I’m actually looking forward to it all.

There are no labs, just the same Drag & Drop of this site. I used the CISCO 640-461 exam from Actualtests, there are 70 questions, most of them are on this site.

Ah I got this. “Native Presence” is a feature of CUCM and not of CUP. See page 303-304 of the 640-481 book. You don’t need a CUPS server to have native presence in CUCM, its already there. All native presence does is monitors a DN, IP Phone, or users on-hook or off-hook status – no IM capability at all.

So by process of elimination answer is A, D – and it even makes sense.
