passed yesterday with a 974, most of the questions are the same and from all the comments from all the people who posted here. I got the CLI simulation and I don’t think I completed it as the 2nd portion states that we should assign the numbers to a button. well when I used the ? mark and the options for both the button and mac-address were not available. I must of spent 10m on that question by deleting everything and starting all over again…

I think they are using CCA 1.9 if you want to do any last minute simulations…
I am taking the exam tomorrow…

Hi Guys, Actually I am trying to study for CCNA voice but I think the curriculum has changed since 28 of Feb. So could anyone show me the new book that I can start reading. Or is there any major differences between 640-460 or 640-461. Also, has anyone taken the new exam. Thanks for your anticipated feedback

In this article I want to mention about a popular question of Cisco Voice Certification System. Should you go with CCNA Voice 640-460 or CVoice 642-436? It is also the most asked question in this site so now I am happy to answer it with all the information I know in a separate article. If you know anything more, please don’t hesitate to comment!

First you should learn about the difference between them. The CCNA Voice 640-460 exam, sometimes called the Implementing Cisco IOS Unified Communications (IIUC) 640-460 exam, is the exam for those who are working with the Cisco CallManager Express (CME), Cisco Unity Express (CUE), Unified Communications 500 (UC500) Smart Business Communications System solutions and implementing EPhone, IP Phone. These devices are often used in medium & small organizations (with less than 2000 employees).

In the other hand, the CVoice 6.0 642-436 exam is dedicated for ones who use the Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and Cisco Gateways/Gatekeepers, including dial-peer & call-leg concept, H.323 & SIP protocols. It is typically employed by large organizations such as governments, large companies. In general, this path is easier to learn than the previous path and it is similar to CCNA and CCNP with command-line-interface (CLI). Moreover, you can use GNS3 to simulate a Voice Gateway or Gatekeeper so you will have more fun (in the case you don’t have real devices).

yes, you can ues that for CCNA Voice. But you must know how to install, config and adminstor cisco UCM 8.0 and cisco ip phone and so on. For now you can study 640-460 cbt and exam prep. Those will still cover 70% for 640-461. we don’t have metirial designated for 640-461 yet. You can get 640-461 roughcut on safari books on line with $40 for PDF version.

Ohhh. I’m forgot to mension that router must have atlest IOS 12.4(15) that suport VoIP, 256 ram and 48 flash to run VoIP lab.

Passed 640-461 exam today with 906/1000. I used the exams from examcollection and pass4sure. I had 70 questions, 2 drag and drops, and no labs.

Robl, which set of questions did you use from exam collection? Did you use Cisco CertifyMe 640-461 v2011-04-11 by Elba 65q.vce ?

All three sets of questions from examcollections is the same. I think the order is different but they all only have sixty different questions.

Hi vtut, I have completed CCNA in Feb’11 and started for job search and everybody is asking experience in the network side and I don’t have enough experience. I was so happy when I passed CCNA.
But, now I realized I should do some specialization. I elected Voice , but the thing is so much confusion in this 640 numbers. I checked the cisco website there is only one “640-461 ICOMM v8.0 Exam Topics (Blueprint)”. So, which one I should prepare , please guide or help me on this. I read the above suggestions and I could not get the clear idea.

@Bans: In the old days, there were 2 options you could choose, they were CVoice or IIUC but now both of them are expired. Now Cisco merges these 2 exams into the new ICOMM v8.0 exam. It means that you have to learn ICOMM if you want to get CCNA Voice cert.

Personally, I don’t like the new ICOMM exam as much as the two old exams. In this new exam, sadly Cisco only focuses to their products while reducing the fundamentals of voice. If you only want to get knowledge about voice (without Cisco cert), I recommend you to read the fundamentals in the CCNA Voice Official Exam Certification Guide (IIUC 640-460) book and practice all the “Voice Fundamentals” in this site:

Taking the ICOMM test in 7 hours.

Studied using the vce dump titled “Cisco.TestKing.640-461.v2011-05-19.164q”

Some answers on this website and some of the pdf files are incorrect. The most accurate I found was the vce file using exam A only.

I will provide results and comments after the test.
